ABOUT Jack Plant

Jack Plant is a British-born photographer and conservationist who has spent the last decade documenting the planet’s natural history, primarily, the Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia, Canada. His work consists of journalistic style images that have been exhibited in magazines such as Oceanographic and Permaculture Mag, as well as natural history fine art, where unique images belong on cotton paper behind museum-grade glass.

Jack is known for his ever-growing portfolio of spirit bears. The world’s rarest bear that lives only in the rainforest of British Columbia. There are fewer than 100 of these bears in existence. Of course, this extensive portfolio also exhibits some of nature’s most extraordinary animals such as whales, grizzlies, wolves, orca and exquisite landscapes. Jack’s access to this wild and pristine part of the world is with gratitude to the Kitasoo/Xai’xais First Nation in the community of Klemtu, who have been exceptionally helpful and welcoming.

He is constantly working with some of the world’s leading conservation groups such as SeaLegacy, Pacific Wild, Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots and Vital Impacts, amongst other important organisations such as the Spirit Bear Research Foundation, whom have been paramount to what we know today about spirit bears and the Great Bear Rainforest.

Along with fine art prints, Jack is collaborating with the incredible Spanish artist, Victor Soler on a multi-year project about Steller sea lions, and is also busy writing his first book. More details to be released later this year.
